A New York City Police Department detective helped rescue a tiny kitten trapped in a sewer pipe on Wednesday.

NYPD Special Ops shared a photo of Det. Brian Hirsch standing in waist-deep water while lifting the small, white kitten out of the drain.

Officers were called to rescue the stranded kitten at about at 8:30 a.m. after a pedestrian reported hearing a cat crying in the area, WABC reported.

Police believe the kitten was swept into the sewer during storms Tuesday night.
